North Las Vegas will host a free movie screening for the HBO film WalkOut, which explores Hispanic student activism that exploded in East LA in 1968 when hundreds of students protested subpar education conditions. North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac Barron will host the event, and WalkOut producer and activist Moctesuma Esparza will share his experience. Esparza is also CEO of Maya Cinemas, which will open in North Las Vegas this winter to help improve access to entertainment in underserved communities. Doors open at 6 p.m. The film screens at 6:30 p.m., followed by an audience Q&A session with Esparza.
